Bournemouth welcome 180,000 people during Bank Holiday weekend
Bournemouth’s reputation as one of the finest tourist destinations in the country was highlighted over the recent Bank Holiday weekend, with sunbathers flocking from far and wide for the chance to soak up some late summer sunshine.
Estimates predict that over 180,000 people headed to the Dorset town over the extended weekend, with the changeable weather helping a variety of local attractions benefit from the huge levels of visitors. Among the biggest hits with holidaymakers were the free concerts and film showings at the site of the former IMAX cinema, with Pier Approach packed with people not wanting to miss any of the action. A long-standing event which generated huge crowds was the duck races in Wimborne and Christchurch, providing a real insight into the great tradition of the town and its surrounds.
With the Bournemouth Air Festival among the countless events still to feature in the town this year, there is still so much for people to enjoy during their forthcoming Bournemouth holidays.
